For Mac OS X 10.6 and below, use the Software Update feature (available on the Apple menu) to check that you have the most up-to-date version of Java 6 for your Mac. For issues related to Apple Java 6 on Mac, contact Apple Support. Oracle and Java.com only support Java 7.

After installing Java for macOS 2012-006, can I continue to use Apple's Java 6 alongside the macOS JDK for Java 13? If you want to continue to develop with Java 6 using command-line, then you can modify the startup script for your favorite command environment.
The new OSX launcher for Minecraft is finaly done, you can download it here https://minecraft.net/download
When I open the launcher, pop-up says 'To open “Minecraft” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.' Java 8u20 Build b17 is the only version of java that works on Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite as of this post.
